See that blue sky in the distance? You’re headed straight for it. And it might not be as far away as it seems.
This weekend I drove hundreds of miles to meet some of the brightest women I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.
The clouds hovered over me on my journey. And at times the pouring rain slowed me down. But my prayers for blue skies and sunshine were answered at just the right times.
And it just so happened that the light was shining at its brightest as stories of gloom were spoken and shared.
There were women who are walking through the fog of grief.
There were women who are fighting the battles of divorce.
There were women who are stumbling through the forest of unknowns.
There were women who are intimately familiar with the darkness of depression.
There was not one woman who didn’t know the feeling of losing. Failing. Hurting. Fear.
And while struggle was a common thread that weaved our hearts together, so was joy.
Joy despite the grief.
Joy despite the battles.
Joy despite the unknowns.
Joy despite the darkness.
Joy despite the struggle.
Sometimes gray skies turn blue simply when we don’t have to journey under them alone. Sometimes sorrow turns to joy when we have nothing but a hand to hold. And sometimes the most brilliant light shines forth in the midst of the blackest night.
If the dark clouds are looming over you tonight, keep going. Blue skies are in your future.
