If you’re already falling behind on those New Year’s resolutions, just remember:
God isn’t calling you to drop a pants size or two.
He isn’t calling you to kill it at the gym or crush whatever fitness goals you have your sights set on.
He isn’t calling you to master a new hobby or read more books—well, unless one of those books is the Bible.
He isn’t calling you to outshine your neighbors, co-workers, or friends.
He isn’t calling you to climb the ladder to some worldly version of success.
He isn’t calling you to achieve financial security.
He isn’t calling you to perform.
He isn’t calling you to perfection.
He’s calling you to trust him in knowing that wherever you’re supposed to be is where he’s going to take you.
He’s calling you to keep following him even when you can’t see where you’re going.
He’s calling you to let him fight for you when you’re failing.
He’s calling you to let his perfection make up for your lack.
He’s calling you to move forward in faith.
He’s not opposed to those New Year’s resolutions. He just doesn’t see them as the priority. And it’s okay if they fall to the bottom of your list too.
